Dark Horse's 'R.I.P.D.' Finds Life On Film
Comic adaption will be directed by Robert Schwentke for Universal Pictures
Robert Schwentke will direct an adaption of Peter Lenkov's Dark Horse comic "R.I.P.D."
Last spring Ryan Reynolds ("Smokin' Aces") signed aboard the Universal Pictures film about a police department of zombie cops who battle the supernatural. The film will focus on a recently deceased recruit who is partnered with an officer that has been dead for hundreds of years.
"Clash of the Titans" co-writers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi are scripting.
Mike Richardson and Lawrence Gordon will produce "R.I.P.D." for Dark Horse Entertainment along with Neal Moritz of the production company Original Film.
Scott Bernstein and Maradith Frenkel will manage the film's production for Universal Pictures.
In addition to his comic "R.I.P.D.," Lenkov holds producing and writing credits on such shows as "CSI: NY" and "The District," and he earned an Emmy nomination for his work on Fox's hit TV series "24."
Schwentke's credits include "The Time Traveler's Wife" and Summit Entertainment's "Red," an action film opening next month. He is also helming "The Change Up" and "The Osterman Weekend."
