'Sanctuary' Receives Season 4 Green Light
Dr. Helen Magnus will continue her dangerous quest to seek the monsters of Earth
Syfy has renewed "Sanctuary" for a 13-episode fourth season.
Slated to commence production in the spring in Vancouver, Canada, the series is targeted for a fall premiere, according to a press release from Syfy's Mark Stern, president, original programming.
"Sanctuary" follows 158-year-old English scientist Dr. Helen Magnus -- played by "Stargate SG-1" actress Amanda Tapping -- and her team of experts who run a secret organization that seeks out non-human creatures known as "abnormals" and try to assist and learn from them, while capturing the more dangerous races.
The series also stars Robin Dunne as forensic psychiatrist Dr. Will Zimmerman, Ryan Robbins as tech wiz Henry Foss, Christopher Heyerdahl as John Druitt and Agam Darshi as Kate Freelander.
Created by Damian Kindler ("Stargate SG-1," "Stargate Atlantis"), "Sanctuary" is produced in association with Syfy and is distributed by Tricon Films and Television.
In 2008, the series received an Emmy Award visual effects nomination for its shooting style, which almost entirely relies on green screens.
