David Giuntoli, Silas Weir Mitchell Join 'Grimm'
NBC pilot takes on Grimm's Fairy Tales with 'Angel' writers David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf
David Giuntoli and Silas Weir Mitchell are joining NBC's pilot "Grimm," according to Deadline.
Inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales, the series will fuse elements of fantasy to a crime drama format, chronicling a dark but fantastical world in which fairy tale characters exist.
"Grimm" centers on Giuntoli's ("Privileged") character, Nick Burckhardt, a detective who embraces a legacy of protecting mankind from the supernatural creatures of the world. Mitchell ("My Name Is Earl") will play Eddie Monroe, a reformed werewolf, who has mastered his dark impulses and sets out to help Burckhardt with his cases.
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" writer David Greenwalt will co-write and executive produce the show alongside Jim Kouf, who also penned episodes of "Angel." Marc Buckland ("My Name is Earl", "Scrubs") will direct the pilot.
Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner ("Will & Grace") will also serve as executive producers.
Grimm’s Fairy Tales is a collection of German origin fairy tales published by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in 1812.
