Starz Developing Dean R. Koontz Limited Series
Adaptation of 'Twilight Eyes' will be the networks first original limited series
Starz is developing an adaptation of Dean Koontz's 1985 novel “Twilight Eyes,” according to Deadline.
More than a year ago, when Chris Albrecht took over as Starz CEO, he stated that the network would concentrate on original programming, and this is the first original limited series they have announced.
The protagonist of the book is Slim MacKenzie, a psychic who uses his powers to hunt Goblins. In this case, Goblins are creatures that can mimic humans, and "twilight eyes" refer to MacKenzie’s psychic powers. Events in the novel take place before the 1980s, but the adaptation will be set in the present day.
Koontz’s former agent Rob Lee, now head of the production company Bayonne Entertainment, will co-adapt with writer Stephen Tolkin, who adapted two Koontz novels, "Intensity" and "Mr. Murder," as television movies in the 1990s.
This will be the first small-screen adaptation of a Koontz novel in more than a decade. A feature film adaptation of his book "Odd Thomas," directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Tim Robbins, Willem Dafoe and Anton Yelchin, is currently in preproduction.
