'Haven' To Return For Third Season

Syfy series has enjoyed high ratings this season

Syfy hit original series “Haven” will return for a third season with 13 new episodes in 2012, according to Mark Stern, president of original content for the network.

The series ended the current season as the best rated original scripted cable program with adults 18-49 and 25-54 in the Friday 10 p.m. ET time slot.

“The superb cast, led by Emily Rose, Eric Balfour and Lucas Bryant, along with the terrific production team, delivered a successful season in both critical acclaim and rising viewership,” Stern said. “We’re very excited to see this compelling series return for a third season of supernatural intrigue in 2012.”

Based on “The Colorado Kid” by Stephen King, the show is set in Haven, Maine, a small town that serves as a refuge for people with supernatural abilities.

Rose plays former FBI agent Audrey Parker, who came to the town to investigate a murder and found a deeper mystery connected to her own past. Balfour plays local smuggler Duke Crocker. The two are joined by Nathan Wuornos, played by Bryant, a local cop who also suffers from a supernatural affliction.

"Haven" airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET and is produced by Entertainment One in association with Shawn Piller, Lloyd Segan and showrunner Scott Shepherd ("Tru Calling," "The Dead Zone.")
