'Chillerama' Director Says eBay Removed Soundtrack
Called the material 'sexually and morally offensive'
You can order DVD and Blu-ray copies of the independent horror anthology "Chillerama" on eBay. But if you're simply interested in an autographed copy of the soundtrack? Forget it.
Tim Sullivan, director of the "Chillerama" segment "I Was a Teenage Werewolf," told fans late Thursday that eBay has removed his listing offering the "Teenage Werewolf" soundtrack autographed, along with an autographed photo of himself and "Teenage Werewolf" star Sean Paul Lockhart.
It's not clear exactly what eBay may have objected to, but Lockhart -- a former adult movie star -- does appear shirtless in the autographed photo, a photo featured on at least a dozen other current listings by others selling copies of the movie through the online marketplace.
Specifically, Sullivan said that eBay called the offer "sexually and morally offensive." And as a response, Sullivan offered members of his online mailing list a chance to order the soundtrack and autographed photo directly from him rather than go through eBay.
Rabid Doll reached out to both Sullivan and eBay late Thursday night, but is not expecting a response at least until the open of business on Friday. Bookmark this story for future updates on responses.
In reviewing eBay's listing policies, it's not exactly clear why the products were removed. In eBay's offensive item policy, the company focuses mostly on violence -- however, it does allow horror film violence, like that depicted in "Chillerama."
eBay also has a policies for material it considers "adult only." However, films that are unrated or rated NC-17 are not required to be listed in this "adults only" section. "Chillerama" is available unrated, but according to Internet Movie Database, while there is some nudity and comedic sexual situations shown, it's nothing beyond what many other adult comedies and horror films would contain.
Although it's pure speculation, one aspect of the offer that may have red-flagged at eBay is the inclusion of Lockhart, who went by the name Brent Corrigan as an adult movie star. Over the last several years, Lockhart has left the porn industry and instead has been working on mainstream acting, including "Another Gay Sequel" and last year's "Judas Kiss." However, mainstream organizations still are not realizing Lockhart's change of venue, and the announcement ahead of production that Lockhart has been cast still starts rumors that the project he's involved in is pornographic.
Sullivan is a special guest on Alpha Waves Radio on March 1, however, his interview was recorded ahead of eBay's actions.
