French Film 'Livid' Gets Remake
'Inside' directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo's latest movie receives English adaption
France's SND Films is pursuing an English-language remake of directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo's 2011 film "Livid," according to Deadline.
Doug Davison of Quadrant Pictures and Robert Léger will produce the project. David Birke, who penned such genre films as "Dahmer," "Freeway Killer" and Gacy," will script.
"Livid" follows a young nursing aide who works at a secluded estate and who learns that a patient may have stashed a small fortune in the house. Later, the aide returns with friends to seek out the treasure, but discovers the woman may have not been as sick as she lead on.
Davison is no stranger to producing for the genre and has been involved in such films as "The Ring," "The Grudge" and "The Strangers." He is also producing upcoming remakes of Chan-wook Park's "Oldboy," Kinji Fukasaku's "Battle Royale" and "Creepshow."
Maury and Bustillo earned notoriety for their bloody 2007 film "Inside" -- also known as "À l'intérieur" -- that centered on a woman tormented by a strange woman who wants her unborn baby.
A director for the "Livid" remake has not be announced.
