Horror-comics magazine "Creepy" is receiving a feature film adaption from Chris Columbus.

Formatted as a four-part anthology, the film unites Columbus ("Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"), who will pen one segment, with a team of producing partners, including Michael Barnathan of 1492, Dan Braun and Josh Braun of Submarine partners and New Comic Company, and Sara Feldmann Sheehan.

“I am thrilled to be immersed once again in the world of 'Creepy' and 'Eerie,'” Columbus said in a statement. “They featured some of the most important comic book artists of the time and were incredibly influential in my desire to become a filmmaker. It is really exciting to have the opportunity to bring these unique tales to the screen and share them with today’s audiences.”

Warren Publishing launched 'Creepy' in 1964 -- initially published quarterly, but later bimonthly -- and the magazine ended its press run in 1983. It featured covers from Frank Frazetta and contributions from Steve Ditko, Bernie Wrightson, Wally Wood, Richard Corben and Al Williamson. Hosting each issue was the character Uncle Creepy.

The adaption is expected to emulate the set up of such films as "The House That Dripped Blood" and "Tales From The Crypt."

“We have always been fans of anthology horror films such as the 'Trilogy of Terror' and 'Tales from the Crypt,' and it has been our goal to figure out a way to make a great 'Creepy' anthology,” the Brauns said. “Chris and Michael and their team at 1492 are the perfect partners to bring this to life.”

Right for 'Creepy' and 'Eerie' were acquired the rights to in 2007 by the Brauns along with partners Rick Brookwell and Craig Haffner.
