Katie Cassidy made her “Supernatural†debut during the Oct. 4 season 3 premiere when she came to the aid of demon-deluged Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki). She quickly dispatched of his adversaries, three of the Seven Deadly Sins, using a magical knife that killed with one strike. “Who was that masked chick?†his brother, Dean (Jensen Ackles), wanted to know. “I’m the girl who just saved your ass,†she told Sam. And so far, that’s about all we know about her. Oh, yeah. And she’s a demon. However, while she has been introduced as an adversary, the 5’7â€ÂCassidy (the daughter of 70s pop idol David Cassidy) can’t help but feel slightly disadvantaged when face to face with the 6’4†Padalecki. The remedy? Four inch heels. Just what every girl needs when running and fighting demons. Good thing she has been brushing up on her fighting skills, taking kickboxing lessons for weeks in preparation of her on-screen fight scenes. Series creator and executive producer Eric Kripke reiterates the fact that Cassidy’s and Lauren Cohan’s characters will be “pretty antagonistic to the boys†in an attempt to pacify some die-hard fans’ outcries regarding the two new female characters. "So the boys spend a lot more time discussing how they want to kill them than how they want to kiss them," he promised. Despite the painfully awkward footwear, the new characters are not particularly girly. One is a demon and the other a supernatural mercenary, and not, as Kripke said, “accessories to the boys." Pretty big shoes to fill. Even if they are 4 inch stilettos.
