'Reaper' - Underbelly

Demon slaying and romance have never been crazier

Sam has to go to a whole new town called Dove Hollow to do away with a demon. He invites Andy along with him, and Ben invites Nina as well.

It’s clear that Ben is getting a bit too clingy for Nina … and she doesn’t want to go on this trip with him.

In the end, it’s Kristin, Andy, Sock, Ben, and Sam that end up going to Dove Hollow. Kristin and Sock are conveniently sharing a room at a hotel.

The friends find out that all of the townspeople want them to visit the mine up the street, and that Sam’s car has been stolen. Even the town cop won’t help them out.

Ben is missing Nina a whole lot, and won’t stop calling her. Andy suggests he calms down a bit.

Again, Andy gets mad because she thinks that Sam is getting a bit to comfortable with the fact that he might be evil and he works for The Devil. In his anger, Sam is able to make a wine glass explode.

Sock wants to sleep in the same bed as his sister, so he throws a cot out of the window. Kristin finally picks up on his crush on her, and isn’t too happy about it. He goes to the bar to try to figure things out, but the bar tender doesn’t seem to care too much.

Kristin comes down to talk to him, and they run upstairs to fool around. Apparently, she’s okay with them being together even though they are technically brother and sister.

Sock is arrested for throwing the cot out the window; it landed on a police car.

The policeman finds Sam’s copy of the info on the soul, and he tells them that Sam can tell him anything he wants to. He implies that Sam can trust him, but Sam takes off.

Nina senses trouble, and heads off to help everyone. She meets the bar tender when she’s in town, and it appears as though he eats her behind the bar.

Ben and Sam try to break Sock out of the jail. Ben heads to the bar for a pick axe, and the bar tender tries to eat him as well. The policeman quickly fends off the bar tender, but doesn’t quite kill him.

The cop tells them that he has been trying to kill the demon off for a long time, but he hasn’t been able to yet. Sam comes clean with him, and tells him about his job. Ben is afraid that Nina has been eaten. The cop offers to help them catch the demon.

The boys try to kill the demon, and it doesn’t work. They go get the cop to help them, and it turns out that he set them up. Apparently the sheriff is in love with the demon, and likes what it’s done to his town. He tries to kill the boys with a rifle, but they run before he can load it properly.

The boys try to run from the sheriff, but he finds them rather quickly. Sam outsmarts him by claiming he can get his friends back. They head up to the mine, and Nina comes after the sheriff. Sam talks her out of killing him, and she listens.

We learn that Nina is indigestible, a benefit of being a demon. When Nina finds out how evil Sam is … she kisses him. Apparently she likes that he would rather have the sheriff alive and suffering then dead.

When they get home, Kristin and Sock must talk about what happened between them. She is ashamed, and Sock doesn’t get it. They decide to damn her country and beliefs, and head up to the room anyway.

At that moment, Sock’s parents walk in the door. The couple plays it off as though they are just friends, and their parents are dumbfounded.

The Devil tells Sam that he believes in him, and that he can withstand a lot. It’s rather complimentary, but Sam doesn’t get it. He apologizes to Andy, but she’s still upset. She doesn’t see them as having a future now that he is surrounded by evil. She is sorry, but she says it’s over.

What Worked
Not much. A pretty boring episode, if you ask me. The only thing I liked was Andy breaking up with Sam at the end. I didn’t see it coming, and I was getting bored with them being happily together.

Nina kissing Sam? That was interesting. Didn’t see that coming either, and I wonder if anything further will happen now that Andy and Sam are broken up.

Sock leaning out of the window in the hotel without a shirt on. It was breathtaking – but not in a good way. He is just so funny and so well written, that I can’t help but pay closer attention whenever he is on screen.

What Didn’t Work
At first I would say the fact that Andy was mad at Sam again, but when she broke up with him in the end, I really liked it. I don’t like them being happily together, I would rather have them apart and missing each other.

Last season, it was great to watch them get together and develop their relationship, so I like to see a wrench thrown into it.
