Open Road Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D," according to Deadline.

Written and directed by Michael J. Bassett ("Solomon Kane"), the sequel is set to open in theaters Oct. 26.

"Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" -- based on the acclaimed survival horror video game created by Konami -- centers on a teenage girl and her father who are hunted by supernatural forces. On the eve of her 18th birthday, the girl discovers a shocking secret about herself as her terrifying nightmares intensify and her father goes missing.

Davis Films' Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody ("Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D"), who teamed with director Christophe Gans ("Brotherhood of the Wolf") on the original film, are once again producing.

The film stars Malcolm McDowell ("A Clockwork Orange"), Carrie-Anne Moss ("The Matrix"), Radha Mitchell ("The Crazies"), Sean Bean ("Game of Thrones"), Deborah Kara Unger (Takedown"), Adelaide Clemens ("X-Men Origins: Wolverine") and Kit Harington ("Game of Thrones").

Gans' original film was No. 1 at the U.S. box office opening weekend and took in nearly $100 million worldwide.

Bassett's next directing gig is "Saint Mary's," a horror film following a group of young people who are trapped inside a mental institution with a supernatural presence that manifests their worst nightmares. He co-wrote the film with screenwriter Matthew Kingshott.
